becoming a sphere

more and more
i wish to soften edges and become a sphere
not necessary a very round one, but an
authentic one with natural curve is good enough
i like to remember to observe, rather than be quick to judge
have heart to inquire, rather then to impose or intrude
to learn to see situations outside of myself
rather than seeing it just from limited perception
i like to be more attentive and caring
more respectful and appreciative
and be sensitive to what i may not understand
to give and allow space to breathe and reveal truth
i like to have the ever so gentle presence to wait for the fruits

it is my deepest wish, to not forget that there is love
i am happy to find focus in my sadhana once again
i feel very blessed in light, serene, harmony
and i want to thank my inner being for being

Om

love is being, being love

Summary of the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra

We worship Shiva - The Three-Eyed Lord
Whose eyes are the Sun, Moon and Fire
Who is fragrant and nourishes all beings;
May he protect us from all disease, poverty and fear
And bless us with prosperity, longevity and health.

May he liberate us from death,
For the sake of immortality;
As the ripened cucumber is automatically liberated,
From its bondage from the creeper when it fully ripens.

The Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is a prayer to Lord Shiva (part of the hindu trinity, the lord of destruction, penance and meditation) for help in overcoming "death". The seeker is more concerned with avoiding spiritual "death" rather than physical "death". The mantra is a request to Lord Shiva to lead us to the mountain of meditation, which is indeed Lord Shiva's abode. Legend has it that Lord Shiva appeared before his devotee Markandeya (who was destined to die at the age of sixteen) and stopped his aging process a few days before he was supposed to turn sixteen. Thus, death would never be able to claim him! Hence, this mantra is also referred to as the Markandeya mantra in classical hindu studies. The mantra should ideally be repeated 108 times, twice daily, at dawn and at dusk.

Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra

Om Tryambhakam Yajamahe
Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan
Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat

Meaning :
We worship the Three-eyed One (Lord Siva).
Who is fragrant and who nourishes well all beings.
May He liberate us from death for the sake of immortality,
Even as the cucumber is severed from bondage to the creeper.i.e. By your Grace, Let me be in the state of salvation (Moksha) and be saved from the clutches of fearful death.

Another Meaning:

We worship Lord Shiva the three-eyed one,
the one who is the master of all senses and qualities and the
one who is the sustainer of all growth.
May He release us from the bondage of death
as a ripened cucumber is released from its stalk
and may He grant us immortality.
(not deprive us of immortality).

Significance of Mrityunjaya Mantra

The Maha Mrityunjay is a mantra that is said to rejuvenate, bestow health, wealth, a long life, peace, propsperity and contentment. The Mantra is a centuries old technique of connecting one to pure consciousness and bliss.

The prayer is addressed to LORD SHIVA. By chanting this Mantra, Divine vibrations are generated which ward off all the negative and evil forces and create a powerful protective shield. And it is said to protect the one who chants against accidents and misfortunes of every kind. It is a vibration that pulsates through every cell, every molecule of our body and tears away the veil of ignorance. It ignites a fire within us that consumes all our negativity and purifies our entire system. It is also said to have a powerful healing of diseases declared uncurable even by the doctors. It is a Mantra to conquer death and connects us to our own inner divinity.

Known as the Moksha Mantra of Lord Shiva, Maha Mrityunjay evokes the Shiva within and removes the fear of death, liberating one from the cycle of death and rebirth.

The Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is very much a protector from accidents, mishaps and daily calamities in the modern busy life.

When to chant :

Chanting the Maha Mrityunjay Mantra with sincerity, faith and devotion in Bramha Muhurata is very beneficial. But one can also chant it anytime in a pure environment with great benefit and discover the happiness that's already within.

This Maha Mirityunyaya Mantra is a life giving mantra. It is a mantra to keep us safe from harm, safely in the arms of the Lord. It has a great curative effect, against diseases of body and mind, if it is chanted with sincerity, faith and devotion. In these days, when life is very complex and accidents are an everyday affair, this holy Mantra comes to your rescue. It wards off death by snake-bits, lightning, water accidents, motor accidents, air accidents, and accidents of all kinds. Besides, It has a great curative power. Diseases that are pronounced incurable by doctors are cured by this Mantra, when chanted with sincerity, faith and devotion. It is a Mantra too conquer death.

It is also a Moksha-Mantra. It is Lord Shiva mantra. It bestows health (Arogya), long life (Durgha Ayus), peace (Shanti), wealth (Aishwarya), prosperity (Rishti), satisfaction (Tushti) and immortality (Moksha).

On your birthday, repeat this Mantra with faith. It will bestow long life. You may repeat also at bed-side of alling persons.

To chant with the mantra or to have it playing in the background can be helpful in everyway as we allow its influence to permeate our consciousness

UNDERSTAND THE MAHAMANTRA

It is important to understand the meaning of the words as this makes the repetition meaningful and brings forth the results.

OM is not spelt out in the Rig-Veda, but has to be added to the beginning of all Mantras as given in an earlier Mantra of the Rig-Veda addressed to Ganapati. This Mantra is given in the Prayer page of my Book "Maharishi Jaimini's Upadesa Sutra".

TRYAMBAKKAM refers to the Three eyes of Lord Shiva. 'Trya' means 'Three' and 'Ambakam' means eyes. These three eyes or sources of enlightenment are the Trimurti or three primary deities, namely Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and the three 'AMBA' (also meaning Mother or Shakti' are Saraswati, Lakshmi and Gouri. Thus in this word, we are referring to God as Omniscient (Brahma), Omnipresent (Vishnu) and Omnipotent (Shiva). This is the wisdom of Brihaspati and is referred to as Sri Duttatreya having three heads of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

YAJAMAHE means, "We sing Thy praise".

SUGANDHIM refers to His fragrance (of knowledge, presence and strength i.e. three aspects) as being the best and always spreading around. Fragrance refers to the joy that we get on knowing, seeing or feeling His virtuous deeds.

PUSTIVARDHANAM: Pooshan refers to Him as the sustainer of this world and in this manner, He is the Father (Pater) of all. Pooshan is also the inner impeller of all knowledge and is thus Savitur or the Sun and also symbolizes Brahma the Omniscient Creator. In this manner He is also the Father (Genitor) of all.

URVAAROKAMEVA: 'URVA' means "VISHAL" or big and powerful or deadly. 'AAROOKAM' means 'Disease'. Thus URVAROOKA means deadly and overpowering diseases. (The CUCUMBER interpretation given in various places is also correct for the word URVAROOKAM, but not apt for this mantra). The diseases are also of three kinds caused by the influence (in the negative) of the three Guna's and are ignorance (Avidya etc), falsehood (Asat etc as even though Vishnu is everywhere, we fail to perceive Him and are guided by our sight and other senses) and weaknesses (Shadripu etc. a constraint of this physical body and Shiva is all powerful).

BANDANAAM means bound down. Thus read with URVAROOKAMEVA, it means 'I am bound down by deadly and overpowering diseases'.

MRITYORMOOKSHEYA means to deliver us from death (both premature death in this Physical world and from the neverending cycle of deaths due to re-birth) for the sake of Mokshya (Nirvana or final emancipation from re-birth).

MAAMRITAAT means 'please give me some Amritam (life rejuvinating nectar). Read with the previous word, it means that we are praying for some 'Amrit' to get out of the death inflicting diseases as well as the cycle of re-birth.

Stay close to the teacher and teaching that resonate with you. Unlearn to learn, step into the Grace of the Guru, surrender and trust the teaching. Let go and fall into the river of spirit and energy.

-Stephen Thomas

Beautiful Samskara

Stay close to the teacher and teaching that resonate with you. Unlearn to learn, step into the Grace of the Guru, surrender and trust the teaching. Let go and fall into the river of spirit and energy.

-Stephen Thomas

Spring is a time of birth and breath of new light, of possibilities, of hope, of dreams to come. It is during this time I awakened to be in the presence of the Guru, awakened in my Dharma. When I heard the passage above from Stephen, I realized that I am home. I need not seek further because the teaching has come when I am ready to embrace it openly. I feel so honored, so happy and blessed to find the teaching that I long to feel close to, the integration of love, compassion and ancient wisdom in the form of Pranayamas, Mantras and Sutras in addition to Ayurveda, fundamental Asanas, cleansing Kriyas and Meditation.

On Day 1 of TT, I felt ripples of happiness all throughout the day, finding myself present and whole in the learning, being where I am naturally meant to be and I felt such shine and warmth from the inner core of my being, feeling connected to Shakti, the divine energy that’s inside and beyond myself. How beautiful it is to feel one with Truth, rooting to the very breath of Life. As the Days progressed, the experiences unfolded and layered on beautifully. One precious understanding I gained in this training is to soften heart in practice, be soft in kindness, respect and non-judging. To surrender the mind and let the inner Guru guide the way. To love, trust and breathe into the center core, liberate self to expand in expression. To keep to practicing for no efforts will ever be lost.

My deepest appreciations to Surya, Shiva, Parvati, Sarasvati, Vishnu, Ganesha, Agni and Hanuman for their guiding light, utmost homage to Guru’s Gurus, to the classical lineage of teaching and learning. Thank you so much Stephen, our dear beloved mentor, thank you Naichin, Rachel, Judy, Michelle and every beautiful spiritual sibling in TT for being you, cultivating our loving Samskara together. I want to wish you love and inspirations, may we glow in sharing our gifts with all.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You

Attuning to Shakti

The energy in between
that is what i am learning to attune to
in it, there's no seperation
but the pure essence of being
in perfect balance and harmony
having shed ego...one humbles with expansion.

Music

As with all ways of creation in art, in music
whether it be singing, making melody, making rhythm, humming
it is the 'language', the mother tongue

In life and rhythm, there is no boundaries.

"No religion, no cast, no colors. One, wa are all human beings."
- 1 Giant Leap

Surrender to the beat, the pulsation of nature
the internal sensation of joy and be open to the full embrace.
Dare to love,
to dream,
to Be,
to become.

Dare to celebrate living, liberating minds, setting hearts free
to soar in the Divine, the Divine that exist within you, with in me,
within all the surrounding and beyond.

Be one with shining heart, clarity of light
Smile to the rhythm of life :-)

The Little Bird, my teacher

23 Days of Yoga TT 3/29-4/20

For every five days there was a day of rest, all together 4 Cycles
On the Day11 which was the rest day after Cycle 2 ended
it was exactly middle way in training, the Midway Interval

That afternoon I was on my way out to teach art
as I walked along the road to take the MRT
I discovered a little bird laying on the gravel
looked like it just passed away, still soft with luster,
so peaceful as if asleep
when I saw it I felt soft sorrow in heart
I walked forth several steps to find myself retrack
I felt I ought to do something
so the little bird would not be fetched by wandering dogs or cats
or be run over by cars

I took out a napkin and picked the little bird up
and put it in the near by big pot of bonsai
there the little body can rest under the shade
still getting a little sunshine
able to absorb dew and be close to soil
at that moment, I felt the weight of life in my left palm
so real, beautiul and fragile
I held in my hand, this little bird's entire existence
it has died and returned to nature

For brief seconds I felt a little fear
I caught myself with surprise with this little fear
and it brought me to comtemplate on life
the meaning of living and dying
and I grew this sense of respect in face of death

I felt trembles in this light of awakening
the little bird's coming into my life, even for that little while
reminded me the value of life

to cherish what exists in the now
to respect the realness in living

This was just a little incident
yet it has set ripples in my heart
on that day, the little bird became my teacher

It has taught me a lesson: to be gentle and kind in respecting life
from the beginning, the in between, to the end

Life is but compassion and so beautiful.

The Little Bird, my teacher

Midway Interval
when I saw it I felt soft sorrow in heart

and I grew this sense of respect in face of death

Ode to Silence

Silence is a precious commodity.

Often we speak enormous amount of energy
sometimes trying to hard, in wanting to express opinions
wanting to be understood and not mistaken
perhaps wanting to persuade...even to share

do we forget to be more gentle
more respectful and allow space of quiet
quiet to settle ripples so all ease into balance and harmony
so there's no forced effort but a natural sense of serenity

when are words necessary
when is it good to conserve
to listen within self

in the film 1 Giant Leap
there was one passage that touches me deeply :

i want to know who is the person that takes care of me...
he talks when i stop talking, then i found i was only breathing
and everything begin to dissolve

only silence remains
but i have to listen
i have to listen to the silence
the deep surrender and ... that's cool.

i want to thank all who have shed light on wisdom in being silent
my true Gurus in life, the open beauty of nature, the trust in children and animal's eyes
the few but precious words that sink in deep that which speaks to my inner being
it is with great appreciation and gratitude that i walk this path with humble steps

dialogue starts within
from the soul
from the heart

breathing is the deepest truth
and i am happy to come to understand this.

Effort and Surrender

"Surrender and the teaching comes through you." -Stephen Thomas

In yoga practices and learnings after having devoted all effort
one surrenders completely and let go to trust the inner wisdom
to simply surrender and soak in the dedication
in the flow of soft deep energy
allowing the body space to take in the teaching, to remember
let it nurture one inwardly and out
shining beautiful energy, beautiful karma.

Day 1, Ripples of Happiness

How shall i begin...today is one of the most beautiful days in my life
of great openess, appreciation, many many smiles and more
as the day flowed on i grew happy and happier still
finding myself present and whole, being where i am natually meant to be
and i feel such shine and warmth from the inner core of my being
feeling connected to the natural energy that's in and beyond myself
how beautiful it is
this sense of wellbeing
i am rooted to the heart of the earth
to mountains, to trees, to grass, to rivers
to the ocean, to the sky, to the clouds, to the sun, the moon
to the very breath of life, i feel one with truth
that resonates the most wonderous energy with the best intention
and i am so happy to be living
so happy to be on the path of my dharma
such joy, such happiness welling up from the inside
i feel very much loved, simply being here and now
i feel so thankful

Stephen asked us in the morning
to set one's own Sankalpa: intention big and small, for the workshop

my Sankalpa is:
I'd love to learn how to ground
to be intuned and connect with inner wisdom
to root down well in foundation
to find a sense of freedom and clarity in center
learn how to integrate all aspects of yoga in everyday
to be of love and wisdom from the heart
to become a better teacher
knowing how to observe and be compassionate
be of support to assist others in safety and comfort
i want to be a healer
i want to be one pure minded
i love to learn to sing Mantras by heart
i love to get to know and understand yoga anatomy
i want to shine my light from the inside brightly
to take heart i am happy in the center

i am a loving shining spirit

there's such completeness cultivated today that i feel truly blessed
i am so thankful, for the field of energy
wisdom and guidence of the teacher, teacher's teachers
TT mates in walking the path side by side at this time
polishing our individual authenticity together
and as a whole creating a beautiful experience

i feel so fortunate to be learning
being mindful in the awareness that brings to light

Inner dialogue

Reality is reality as one allows it to be and become
whatever quest, challenge or obstacles
to ride the flow til one is able to be through to move on

it's all in the heart
when acting with heart, liberation comes
so often we see it all in the mind, in our ego's interpretation
and it traps one with such limitation and confinement
but that is not how life naturally is to be

how to be awake in the energy that has all the answers
so much more profound than the mind
to be with pure divinity and contentment
every person has one's own pathway
own route to that door

see that mind makes the contraction
let go to trust heart's voice and expansion can happen

as with all existence
we are complete inside, an universe within
a field of energy that resonate delicately
let the mind relax
celebrate with heart
let life unfold naturally
allowing answers to come
listen to the wisdom that's there

blessing, grace, beautiful energy
it has always been there inside and out
how to shed the excess layers in exterior
so we can be open and in touch with the authentic self
being whole and real, being true in clarity

acceptance
choices
trasformations
creation
feeling unconditional love

i am learning
i want to always be true
in living moments with compassion
kindness and understanding

we are all lightness of being
there's no need to resist when it feels so wrong
no need to cling on to attachment of negative emotions
no need to have to please, to placate, to be not true to self

we can learn better to setting good intentions
open heart to respect and forgive
forgiving in ways that one knows things can not be forced
some times it's not a matter of making effort
but a cause and effect in a deeper level, the karmic energy
what do we allow ourselves to bind to or bond with?
do we invite good energy or bad energy
do we allow suffering to root or can we
allow softness in seeing it through

how to be in this world
how to live feeling no shame, no guilt, no supression
simply be with a sense of natural ease and comfort
that is the true essence of our nature

how to let go of expectations
let go of wanting to be in control

control is all mind's talk
it is not language of the heart

when we are of love and stability in the core
everything else evloving on the outside is just a play
a dance contracting and expanding energy
how we are to swirl into chaos or be a smooth current
is all in our own doing of being or not being

be mindful
instill space so there's room to move around
we are not static or concrete
we can create what makes being... Happy
